ISP investigates two crashes on US 26

UPDATE: 2:15 P.M.

Idaho State Police said Mandy J. Schofield, 40, of Idaho Falls was driving a blue Nissan Altima west bound on U.S. 26. when she drove off the roadway, went through a sign and struck a streetlight. The streetlight then fell into the westbound lane and struck a white 2017 Ford F350 pickup truck. The west bound pickup was driven by Troy D. Weaver, 44, of Idaho Falls.

The streetlight then came to rest in the middle of the westbound lanes.

A third driver, Ashtyn E. Goree, 18, of Idaho Falls was also west bound on U.S. 26 in a black, 1998 Subaru Legacy. Goree drove over the streetlight and then collided with a gray 2013 Ford F450 pickup. That truck was east bound on U.S. 26 and was driven by Quinton E. Bair, 42, of Rigby.

All lanes of traffic were blocked for about an hour. None of those involved required hospitalization.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.

US 26 at Beech’s corner is now open to traffic in both directions as Idaho State Police investigate two crashes there this morning.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Idaho State Police are investigating two crashes on U.S. 26 near Beaches Corner.

In the first, a vehicle drove through a light pole and the pole fell on another vehicle.

The second crash involved a vehicle driving through the area and over the light pole. It then lost control and hit another vehicle.

There were no injuries, but four vehicles were involved.

West bound US 26 is blocked.
