Summit Eyecare having screening for Dry Eye Syndrome

We’re left high and dry here in Idaho. That can take a toll on your eyes.

You may suffer from dry eye syndrome, but there is help for it. Dry Eye Syndrome is when the gland in your eye that creates oil that keeps your tears from drying rapidly. Chronic dry eye can cause long-term complications to the surface of the eye, vision and eye health.

Some people have symptoms like fluctuating or blurry vision, stinging or burning. Others don’t have symptoms at all.

Summit Eyecare will be doing a free screening tomorrow to check for this.

“Like an MRI of the eyelid, we can see the gland, we can see how much integrity it has. If it’s opened, if it’s blocked, if it’s starting to die, which they do if they get blocked they start to shrink and shrivel up,” says Dr. Todd Birch, O.D. at Summit Eyecare.

The open house will be at Summit Eyecare on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1689 Pancheri Drive, Idaho Falls. The screening is free to the public and they will also be discussing treatments.
