Lincoln Road improvement bids awarded

Knife River has been awarded a $6.4 million contract to make improvements to Lincoln Road, between 25th East and 45th East. Bonneville County Commissioners approved the contract this week, which was $900,000 below the next lowest bid.

Bonneville County Public Works Director Steve Rounds says the project will include completion of a five-lane road from 25th East to Ammon. It will also include two 2-lane Roundabouts. Those facilities will be built on Lincoln and 25th East and at the intersection of Lincoln and Ammon.

Rounds said acquisition of right-of-way is nearly complete and initial construction work will begin March 1. Part of that work will include a joint sewer line project with the Iona-Bonneville Sewer District. The district and the county will share the $853,000 cost of that project, which was part of the overall Knife River bid.

If weather cooperates, the road project should be complete by November of 2018.

A second phase of the project will focus on improvements from Ammon to 45th East. Rounds said that will probably be up for discussion in two to three years.
