Swisher announces congressional bid

Aaron Swisher has announced he will enter the Democratic race to challenge incumbent Congressman Mike Simpson.

Swisher filed with the Secretary of State’s office on Monday, the opening day candidate registration in Idaho. Candidates can enter to run through March 9.

Swisher said he has already visited with supporters in Pocatello, Hailey, Idaho Falls, Salmon, Gooding, and Stanley. Describing himself as an independent politician, Swisher said “Idaho needs and deserves a candidate who will fight to give working families a better deal.”

Campaign Treasurer Richard Stallings stated, “Aaron is working hard to take his message directly to voters across the 2nd District by holding small house parties and events across the district and plans to visit every county by the end of the race.”

Swisher was born and raised in rural West Virginia. He moved to Boise in 1993 to student economics at Boise State University. He went on to work in financial management at Micron Technology. Most recently, he was providing brand protection and anti-fraud services to corporate clients with Clarivate Analytics.

Swisher said he has already scheduled visits in Victor, Driggs, Rexburg and Wood River Valley.
