Pocatello names new Animal Services Director

Danielle Garcia has been named director of Pocatello Animal Services.

City council members approved Mayor Brian Blad’s nomination Thursday night. She will assume her new role immediately.

Garcia has managed the animal shelter since 2011, tasked with managing day-to-day operations and facilitating pet adoptions.

Blad said she had an impressive vision for the department into the future.

“I am looking forward to serving the citizens of our great city and being a voice for the animals in our community,” said Garcia. “Looking ahead, I would like to re-tool our volunteer program. Specifically, I’d like to see the program’s orientation period move online and allow people to be able to do this portion on their own time. Also, I’d like to expand our spay/neuter program as well as add more community events.”
