High winds cause damage across Idaho Falls

Idaho Falls Fire Department crews are responding to multiple calls of power lines down, trees down, power outages, fire alarms and transformers on fire due to high winds.

Here is a brief recap of what we know at this time:

35th W. 410 S. – A large tree took out several power poles. Several power lines are across the road. 2945 W. 17th S. – A power transformer caught fire which then started a ditch bank on fire. Crews have the fire out and are keeping an eye on it. 5737 S. 15th W. – A tree took out the power, and then landed on a house. Crews have cleared the scene. As of right now, it is not reported that there was anybody inside the home.

55th East – Power line down.

E. 22nd and Boulevard – Tree down across multiple power lines. 161 9th Street – Tree fell on Holy Rosary Catholic School around 3:45 p.m. Damages unknown.

Please travel safely and avoid areas where the lines are down.
