Meridian man hospitalized in Sand Dunes ATV crash

Christopher Hansen, 35, of Meridian was hospitalized Sunday after his ATV crashed at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office was called to the dunes at 9:45 a.m.

According to reports, Hansen went over a small dune. His ATV rolled end over end when it landed.

Hansen was treated by Fremont County EMT’s then transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by helicopter.

The Sheriff’s Office says the dunes have undergone some extreme geographic changes over the winter. Although they are always changing, they say the dunes are especially altered this year.

Riders are encouraged to operate their equipment safely and within their riding abilities. Safety flags and a current, 2018 OHV registration are required to operate any vehicle on the sand dunes.
