UPDATE: 8:53 a.m.
Firth School Superintendent Sid Tubbs explained that the school district received a threat against Firth High School by electronic device at approximately 7 a.m. He immediately contacted the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office and implemented lockdown procedures according to school policy.
Law enforcement officers found the perpetrator of the threat on a school bus and took him into custody. Once he was in custody, Tubbs said the school district lifted the lockdown.
Students or parents of students were given the option to stay home from school Monday, although the district believes the schools are safe.
Tubbs said this was the first such threat the district has had to contend with. “The Sheriff’s Department and our people did an excellent job of getting the message out and the situation under control.”
