No one hurt as START bus catches fire

No one was hurt Tuesday morning after a START Bus caught on fire.

The incident happened along the Moose-Wilson Road near the Stilson parking lot.

The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time and there were no reported injuries. START officials said the fire appeared to have been mechanical in nature.

The bus driver was returning to Jackson after dropping off passengers at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The driver was the only person on the bus. The driver escaped the vehicle safely.

“We are thankful that everyone is safe,” said Darren Brugmann, START Bus Director. “We appreciate the quick and effective response of the Jackson Hole Fire/EMS Department and Teton County Sherriff’s Department.”

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
