REDI plans Japanese development effort

Eastern Idaho economic development officials travel to Japan this month in an effort to meet with Japanese companies interested in investing in Idaho.

Regional Economic Development for Eastern Idaho (REDI), the Idaho Departments of Agriculture and Commerce, the University of Idaho, and Idaho Senator Kelly Anthony will make the trip April 11-18.

Sakae Casting/Ohzen in Tokyo will host the Idaho team for three days to discuss next steps in the Idaho Department of Commerce’s award of nearly $238,000 IGEM grant and connect Idaho team members with other local businesses interested in investing in Idaho. The grant was awarded to the University of Idaho, Boise State University, and the Center for Advanced Energy Studies. The state agencies will partner with Sakae Castings Idaho Falls research and development activiites.

Team members include: Jan Rogers, CEO of REDI; Dr. Marc Skinner, executive officer of the University of Idaho’s Eastern region; Bobbi-Jo Meuleman, director of Idaho Department of Commerce; Celia Gould, director of Idaho Department of Agriculture; and Kelly Anthon, Idaho Senator and City of Rupert administrator.
