Funeral services held for former Chubbuck Mayor

Hundreds of people attended funeral services Monday for former Chubbuck Mayor John Cotant, Jr.

Cotant passed away April 3 at the age of 93.

He served as Mayor for 36 years from 1970 until he retired at the age of 81 in 2005.

In a Facebook message, city staffers said, “We appreciate all he did for not only our community, but our nation as a World War II Veteran.”

Police Chief Bill Guiberson said the Mayor’s funeral was given a police escort, including a pass in front of Chubbuck City Hall and full military rights.
