Thayne burglary suspect arrested in Cedar City

Cedar City Police have arrested a man suspected of participating in a pharmacy break-in in Thayne, Wyoming.

28-year-old Talon Sessions was booked into the Iron County Jail April 5 after a one-night spree of vandalism, robberies and burglaries.

It started when someone reported hearing things being smashed and broken inside Cedar High School Wednesday night. An exterior window was shattered. Cedar City Police cleared the school, but didn’t find the suspect. Video surveillance inside showed a single, white male appeared to be carrying a handgun and fired it inside the school.

A short time later, police were notified of a “car-jacking” in progress. The suspect matched the description of the high school break-in.

Police said the man entered an unlocked home and was confronted by the homeowner. At gunpoint, the man stole keys from the victim and started to leave in the victim’s vehicle. He abandoned it a short distance away and tried to run away.

He entered another home and took a bottle of orange juice from the refrigerator, then left the house.

Police said there were at least four other attempts by the man to enter homes and cars.

Lawmen from across Iron County responded to assist in arresting the man. The suspect was located and arrested in the area of 400 E. Hillside Place. He was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance then taken to the Iron County Jail.

The various agencies participating in the manhunt included: Cedar City Police Department, Enoch City Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, Parowan City Police Department, SUU Public Safety and the Utah Highway Patrol.
