Three courthouses close after man makes threat
Around 9 a.m. Monday, Pocatello dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from a man who was very upset.
According to Bannock County Sheriff Lorin Nielsen, the man said it was all their fault, and he himself was going to blow up the courthouse.
Nielsen said the man hung up before dispatch could ask which courthouse.
The Federal Courthouse, Juvenile Courthouse and Bannock County Courthouse has been shutdown so law enforcement can search the buildings.
As of 10:30 a.m., Sheriff Nielsen said they haven’t found anything out of the ordinary.
Nielsen said officers are going to continue doing a few more spot checks, but they feel comfortable reopening the courthouses at noon.
Pocatello is in the process of tracing the call and finding out who is involved.
Sheriff Nielsen said this is a prosecutable offense, and there will be criminal penalties involved.
The Bannock County Courthouse and services will re-open at 12:00 pm.
