Driver dies after semi hits guardrail

A Utah man has died after his truck struck a guard rail on Highway 20 near Ucon, Wednesday afternoon.

Idaho State Police say, ” At approximately 1:36 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a crash on US20 at the 315 overpass, in Ucon. John Hodges, 51, of Ogden, Utah, was driving westbound on US20 near milepost 315, in a 2017 Freightliner. The Freightliner struck the guard rail on the right shoulder and came to rest on top of the Ucon Overpass. ”

Hodges was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls where he was pronounced deceased. Hodges was wearing a seatbelt.

Idaho State Police say the driver of the truck suffered some sort of medical issue and drove into the overpass guard rail.

Idaho State Police reports a semi-truck struck a guardrail on US 20 at mile marker 315 (Ucon Exit) around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Traffic is being diverted off the highway.

ISP reports the westbound right lane is blocked, and the left lane is being opened.

ISP reports the driver is being transported to Eastern Idaho Medical Center.
