BYU-Idaho commencement set tonight

Over two thousand graduates will receive degrees during winter semester commencement Friday at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg.

The university will award 1,872 bachelor’s degrees and 445 associate degrees during ceremonies beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the BYU-Idaho Center.

The university said 1,347 of the graduates are women and 950 are men. More than 50 percent have served as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Elder Vern P. Stanfill, of the General Authority Seventy of the LDS Church will be the keynote speaker. Stanfill was sustained as a General Authority in April 2015. He served as a Second Counselor in the Africa West Area Presidency and currently serves at Church headquarters in Salt Lake City.
