Dressing up: local woman helps girls get prom ready

Prom, a special night for high schoolers. One local woman wants to make sure every girl has the night of lives and that starts with finding the perfect dress.

It started as a school project for her daughter.

“She needed 10 hours and we decided to look around to see what would fit her,” says LeAnn Chandler.

“I wanted to do something that was more my interest that would be more fun. I like to do stuff with fashion and makeup so we decided to do dresses,” says Lillianna Riquelme.

So “The Golden Gown Project” was born. Girls can come in and borrow a dress free of charge.

And it’s not just for prom.

“They’ve come in for second chance proms, fireman balls, we’ve had dance recitals, weddings even a lady who needed three dresses for a cruise, so we hooked her up,” says Chandler.

And they know exactly how important getting the perfect dress is.

“To have the perfect dress is to make the whole night. Makes you feel like you’re the star of the show makes you feel like you’re a princess,” Riquelme.

They say they love being able to make girls feel like princesses.

“They have a smile on their face and they’re just up in the mirror looking. And you can tell that they feel like a princess and that’s my goal. And they go and have a wonderful time and they feel like a princess like all the other girls,” says Chandler.

Most of the dresses are donated. If you would like to donate or get a dress they’re located in a room in the Rigby Indoor Training Center. That address is 236 N Yellowstone Highway in Rigby. For store hours you can like their Facebook page.
