Idaho Falls truck driver killed in Nebraska crash

An Idaho Falls truck driver was killed in a western Nebraska snow storm last weekend.

The Nebraska State Patrol said Rollo Ward, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to reports, the semi-truck Ward was driving was eastbound on Interstate 80 near mile marker 84. He lost control of the truck, entered the median, and struck another semi that had previously become stranded.

Troopers responded to more than 80 motorist assist calls during the storm.

100 people were rescued from western Nebraska blizzards. Law enforcement went vehicle to vehicle rescuing all occupants in freezing temperatures. Motorists were taken to Light Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sidney or to a hotel of their choice.
