Local woman wins $1 million from Albertsons Monopoly

A local woman is a million dollars richer Wednesday. Albertsons gave away $1 million from its Monopoly game. And the winner is… Mary D. of Idaho Falls.

Mary has been playing the game and collecting the pieces since the game started in February. When she got that final game piece that meant she had won $1 million, she said the adrenaline was pumping and yet everything slowed down.

“It’s still very surreal. It’s an incredible blessing, that I know, this is a blessing from God. And I’m so grateful and I’m going to do my utmost to use this money wisely,” said Mary.

But there’s more to it. There is a reason why Mary calls this a blessing.

“My husband is currently unemployed. So this couldn’t have come at a better time,” she said.

The Albertsons Monopoly game goes until May 8, so there is still one more possible million dollar winner out there. The game is currently being played in more than 2,300 stores in 32 states.
