Pocatello students engaged in day of service

Hundreds of teens joined forces Friday to give service to the community that they love.

More than 900 students and faculty from Pocatello High School were digging and painting and cleaning at 37 different locations throughout town.
It’s a yearly project that is called the day of service, and even though it’s lots of work, the students enjoy what they are doing and the teachers say it really changes their perspective.

” It was a lot of organizing and a lot of phone calls, a lot of seeing who needs help and what we need to do, but it was definitely worth the work, ” student organizer Mindy Fuller said.

” These students — 99.9 percent of them are awesome students and awesome kids, who want to help and want to be good kids so this gives them the opportunity to do that , ” student government advisor Kellie Maughan said.

After the students finished the work projects, they were treated to a barbeque prepared by the National Guard .
