Officials give cold water danger reminder
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind you of the cold water dangers when recreating on our local waterways.
Even though temperatures are warming up, the reservoir and Snake River water is around 40 to 50 degrees.
These cold water temperatures can quickly overcome one’s ability to swim and self-rescue in an emergency.
To give yourself the best chance of survival, the sheriff’s office offers these tips:
Wear a personal floatation device at all times when navigating the waterways Be prepared beforehand Know your equipment Help others develop safe boating practices
