Half-off dog licensing in Pocatello

You will be able to license your canine companion for half price during the month of May.

Starting Tuesday, Pocatello Animal Services will be offering dog licenses for half-off for all Pocatello residents.

Licenses for dogs that are not spayed or neutered will cost $10 while licenses for dogs that are spayed or neutered are $5.

You can purchase the licenses at the Pocatello Animal Shelter, City of Pocatello Mayor’s Office, McKee’s Pet, Garden and Feed Center and local veterinarians.

“Having your pet licensed and microchipped can help get them home to you faster in the event they get loose,” said Danielle Garcia, Animal Services Director. “If an owner has maintained the information contained on the chip, we can usually get the pet home within a matter of hours.”

Cat licenses are also available for purchase at the Pocatello Animal Shelter. When a cat reaches three months of age, owners must purchase a license and in doing so, provide their name, address, phone number, as well as proof the cat has been microchipped. The cost to register a cat is $5. If the cat is not microchipped, animal services staff can chip the animal for $15. The animal’s microchip serves as the license and the animal will not receive a City identification tag.

If you have questions about the licensing process, contact shelter staff at 208-234-6156.
