One man killed, one injured in Saturday shooting
Denis Orlando Lopez-Serrano, 22, of Rupert is being held on charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, and an enhanced penalty for using a firearm in commission of a felony.
According to the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office, two men were shot by Lopez-Serrano at around 10 p.m. Saturday in the city of Minidoka.
Rafael Gil Vargas, 43, and Nallely Vargas Juarez, 19, both of Minidoka were shot. Vargas was transported by helicopter to Portneuf Medical Center. He died at the hospital. Jaurez was treated and released at a local hospital.
The Sheriff’s Office released no further information about the incident Monday.
