Small Business Week: Supporting local business

It’s a good time to shop local, this week is Small Business Week. Downtown Idaho Falls is filled with small businesses.

These small shops depend on the local shopper. One of the struggles small businesses have is getting people through the doors. It can be tough competing with the bigger franchises. But there are benefits to shopping local.

“You usually know where your stuff is coming from. So, you can talk to the local restaurant owner about where they got their food or where their produce is coming in from or where your meat is coming from. You have a more direct connection with what you’re either consuming or buying,” says Catherine Smith with Downtown Development.

Another benefit: helping the local economy.
