Idaho Falls Police test recruits

44 people turned out for Public Safety Testing at Idaho State University’s Idaho Falls campus University Place Friday.

The testing was one of the first steps for people interested in applying for positions with the Idaho Falls Police Department.

The department said it is in the process of hiring both new, or probationary, police officers as well as lateral officers transferring from other agencies. New officers can expect starting salaries of between $44,116.80 to $60,819.20 per year.

All candidates must pass a background check, polygraph test, and a pre-employment physical exam before they can receive an offer of employment. New officers must be certified by the Idaho Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) Council within one year. They must also pass medical and psychological examinations.
