Bonneville’s Annie Elliott named Athlete of the Week after strong pitching

This weeks Sermon Service and Electric Athlete of the week comes from the Bonneville Bee’s.

Coach Dennie Edwards tells Sportsline says her best pitching came from the district tournament.

Annie Elliot threw 19 innings over three games, giving up 9 runs, but only 3 of those are earned.

She had an ERA of 0.78 in the district tournament.

Elliot is just a junior in high school and has been with the team since her sophomore year.

Coach Edwards tells Sportsline she isn’t fazed in tough situations during a game.

“She is unflappable it seems like nothing fazes her, pitchers will give up a home run, mistakes will be made behind her. It doesn’t faze her,” says Edwards,” and I think that gives our kids a lot of confidence, and they enjoy playing for her, they know that Annie is going to pitch to a point where she’s going to have the ball put in to play for them and they like playing for her, and these kids they’re all great, Annie’s a great kid and student, and we’re just excited and happy for her.”

Annie tells Sportsline she loves playing with the girls on her team and is appreciative of the seniors on her team who have been an example.

She also loves seeing the joy on her teammates faces during games when they come up with big plays.

She is soft spoken but a leader on this team.

Coach Edwards says the way she carries herself, you would never guess she was only a junior.

In her two years on varsity, he has noticed a big improvement in how she plays the game.

“She’s really kind of come into her own a little bit, she’s probably won close to third games in the last two years, which is pretty amazing, she’s really turned into a pitcher so this year, she’s got a great command of her strike zone,” says Edwards, ” got a sneaky fastball and a good change up, but she has pitched really well for us, has kind of been our rock out there.”

The Bee’s softball team will be playing at Capell Park in Chubbuck at 11 AM against Eagle High School.

Congratulations to Annie Elliot she is named our Athlete of the Week and will receive a plaque from crown trophy for her accomplishments this last week.
