Local nonprofit celebrates 50 years

One local nonprofit is celebrating a big milestone…50 years of service to the community.

The Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership first started serving meals out of a church basement in 1968. Today, they serve the community with a variety of programs such as The Haven Shelter and Head Start. Tonight, they are celebrating turning 50 with dinner and awards to go along with their annual board meeting. They say they could not have made it this far without community support and those who work for the organization

“Our employees help people, change lives each and every day,” said Jay Doman, CEO of EICAP. “Whether it’s a small child going to Head Start and getting an education and preparing themselves for kindergarten or providing some housing for somebody that may not be able to afford it otherwise.”

They say their goal for the next 50 years is to find new programs, expand and eradicate poverty.
