Century Tennis teams hanging more championship banners

The Century Tennis team has been dominating the 4A level for a few years, and it goes to show.

The Boys and Girls on the team are hanging two more championship banners.

The girls are hanging their third consecutive championship banner, while the boys are hanging their second straight.

Coach Sean Kane tells Sportsline, he is proud of his seniors and what they’ve accomplished.

He adds that despite the sport being based on individual results, he said this team really came together.

“At the end they were a really tight knit group as a team and wanted to win the team titles which is sometimes overlooked in tennis as an individual sport,” says Kane.

On the girls side of the team, ISU commit, Adriene Pavek finished off her high school career by winning the state title in the singles section, her third in a row.

She had a little motivation following her freshman year in the state tournament.

“Freshman year, I lost my semi final match in the state tournament and I took that really personally and so then the next year I was determined to win state,” says Pavek, “I put in a ton of extra practice. After school practice I would just go and play with either of my parents, because both of them play or some ISU players or I would do practice matches against my teammates, I was dedicated to winning it.”

When asked where he would rank this team compared to others Kane has coached, he says it is tough to compare the team to others but it would be fun to see this team and others play each other in the prime.
