Sheriff’s office encourages crime prevention

Whether you plan an extended vacation or just a day-trip, the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging homeowners to double-check security around their property.

Deputies said they have responded to a number of thefts and burglaries county-wide. Most of the calls have been to construction sites, remote agricultural areas, and some residences.

People are asked to report any suspicious activity promptly to help deputies intercept criminal activity.

And, the sheriff’s office has some tips on how to be a good witness. First, take video and pictures, but don’t compromise your personal safety.

If you have to intervene, call 9-1-1 first. Be ready to provide an accurate location, who is involved and what sort of help you need.

You can contact law enforcement at 208-529-1200 or through Crime Stoppers at 208-522-1983. You can also contact the Sheriff’s office online here.
