Lawn mower runs over gas valve and forces evacuations
UPDATE 5/27/18 5:01 PM: The gas is not shut off but it will take a while to clear the houses of gas. Power in the area is off as a safety precaution.
ORIGINAL STORY:
People between G and H Street have been evacuated as a safety precaution including the Midget Market after a lawn mower ran over a gas valve on Lake Ave.
Idaho Falls Police Department and Idaho Falls Fire responded to a gas leak around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday on Lake Street. IFPD blocked the road while IFFD gets the leak under control.
IFFD is working to shut off the leak as soon as possible but there is no estimated time as of yet.
