Local bars celebrate Idaho Beer Week, Beer Fest

Beer drinkers rejoice, Beer Fest is this weekend in Idaho Falls. Many downtown bars are starting the celebration a bit early tonight.

The bars are hosting breweries and featuring their beers as part of Idaho Beer Week. There will also be live music. Tonight is the awards ceremony, and the winners will be featured at Beer Fest tomorrow.

It’s not just about drinking beer but celebrating the breweries and even giving back to the community.

“It’s very much a local product because here in Idaho we grow so many of the malts and the hops so it’s not just about the beer itself, it’s about agriculture,” said Liza McGeachin, general manager of The Celt. “It also is a huge fundraiser, there’s a big charity element.”

All of the proceeds from tomorrow’s event go towards various charities in the area. Beer Fest goes from noon to 5 pm tomorrow at Sandy Downs. Tickets are $40; however, if you are the designated driver, tickets are just $10. They must be purchased before the event, you will not be able to purchase them at the gate.
