UPDATE: Missing teen found alive and safe
UPDATE 6/1/18 3:35 p.m.: The Teton County Sheriff’s Office says James Paul Cunningham has been located alive, safe and well.
The sheriff’s office reports Cunningham proactively contacted law enforcement upon learning there was an investigation in process to locate him and is currently being interviewed by Sheriff’s Office personnel.
“The Sheriff’s Office is grateful for the quick work and collaboration with our partners, as well as the assistance from members of the public that provided helpful information throughout the course of this investigation,” said Teton County Undersheriff, Matt Carr.
UPDATE 6/1/18 11:50 a.m.: Search efforts are increasing for James Paul Cunningham.
The Teton County Sheriff’s Office has created a task force with federal partners, as well as the Jackson Police Department, Teton County Search and Rescue and the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation. Investigative duties are being shared across these agencies.
Search and Rescue is prepared to activate a backcountry search if needed, pending direction from the Sheriff’s Office and the results of investigative efforts Friday.
UPDATE: 05/31/2018 7:45 p.m.
The Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office has a better understanding of when James Paul Cunningham was last seen.
He was last seen on Monday just before 4:00 p.m. getting a ride out of the Flat Creek area towards Jackson in a full-size, black, crew-cab pick-up truck with two white males who looked to be in their 20’s.
Deputies also learned that Cunningham’s car was mechanically disabled and locked.
Currently, no foul play is suspected.
Anyone with knowledge of where of Cunningham is, including anyone who may have given him a ride in the last few days, is urged to call the Teton County Sheriff’s Office at 307-733-2331.

The Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office is looking for a 19-year-old male.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol has been advised that James Paul Cunningham of Jackson, Wyoming told his mother he had broken down in the Hoback area on Sunday. He had planned on going camping, then to work. His mother has not heard anything further from him.
Sheriff Investigators learned that Cunningham did show up for work on Monday morning. He left for lunch at noon and didn’t return to work.
Sheriff Investigators sent out a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) for him and his car which is a green 1996 Mercury Sable station wagon.
They found the car on the Flat Creek Road, north of the National Elk Refuge, but no sign of Cunningham.
