Crash blocks Highway 33 near Rexburg

UPDATE: 6-2 10:40 a.m.

Moises Munoz, 71, of Corona, California escaped serious injury Friday when the semi-trailer he was driving crashed into a power pole.

The crash happened at around 2 p.m. near milepost 77 on State Highway 33 west of Rexburg.

Idaho State Police said Munoz was westbound in a 2018 Penske truck pulling a trailer. The trailer fishtailed, went off the road, jack-knifed, and struck a power pole.

The road was blocked for about two hours.

UPDATE 4:00 p.m.: The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says Highway 33 could be closed until as late at 7:00 p.m. Friday.

The sheriff’s office said it will take crews about 3 more hours to clear the semi from the power pole and lines.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says Highway 33 has been shut down because of a semi-trailer truck crash. It happened at milepost 77, just west of Rexburg.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
