Officials identify man shot and killed

UPDATE 6/7/18 10:30 a.m.: The Madison County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man shot and killed in Hibbard Tuesday.

Officials have identified the man as 66-year-old Mathew Robert Travao III.

An autopsy is still underway to determine the cause of death.

The investigation continues.

UPDATE 6/6/18 3:10 p.m. Jessica Conser was arraigned before a Madison County magistrate Wednesday afternoon in connection with a shooting incident Tuesday night.

Conser was bound to 7th District Court to enter a plea on the charge and is charged with first-degree murder. A second weapon enhancement charge was also added.

If found guilty, Conser could face a minimum of 10 years to life in prison or even the death penalty and $50,000 in fines.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports a man succumbed to his injuries after being shot in the Hibbard area Tuesday.

Deputies responded to the reported shooting at the 2800 block of 2000 North around 9:26 p.m. and found an adult male that had been shot.Madison County EMS arrived shortly after, and paramedics transported the victim to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds.

The sheriff’s office reports initial reports stated that a person of interest had left the area in a vehicle with Montana license plates. Madison County dispatch contacted the surrounding law enforcement agencies with the individuals’ description and vehicle information.

At 10:27 p.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Dispatch was advised by Clark County Sheriff’s Office that deputies had located and stopped the vehicle on I-15 near the Idaho/Montana state line.

Jessica Conser, 34, was detained and transported back to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office for questioning where she was later booked into the Madison County Jail on charges related to the incident.

At this time, victim’s information is being withheld pending notification of extended family.

Police are still investigating.
