Gem Prep’s move to Pine Ridge Mall approved

The Gem Prep Charter School in Pocatello will soon call a former Sears home. A public hearing held last night in Chubbuck approved the school’s move.

The school, which opened in 2014, started with only kindergarten and first grade. Since then, the school has gradually increased in size and capacity, now serving K-5th grade.

Principal Gerald Love said that this is an important move for the school. It is their goal to serve K-12 in the near future, and plan to add a grade, or possibly two, by the start of the next academic year.

While there is currently no timetable for construction or a move, Love said that the school’s current lease expires next June. He believes they will be ready to move into Pine Ridge at that point.
