Local summer food programs

Summer is in full swing, and so are the summer food programs across eastern Idaho.

The Idaho Falls Summer Food Program kicks off Friday.

There will be food, games and music and is an event for the whole family.

The kick off and summer program will be held at the band shelter/pavilion on the Greenbelt located on Memorial Drive.

The summer food program will take place from June 18 through August 17 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Bonneville School District 93 also has a Summer Food Service Program.

Free breakfast and lunch will be served to children 1 to 18 years old from June 6 to June 28 on Monday through Thursday. Adults may purchase breakfast and lunch. Breakfast goes from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch goes from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Meals are served at Cloverdale Elementary at 3999 Greenwillow Lane, Discovery Elementary at 2935 N Goldenrod Dr and Summit Hills Elementary at 2853 N Lucina Ave.

The district also hosts Lunch in the Park at McCowin Park in Ammon from June 4 to July 29 (except July 4th) on Monday through Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Another free summer lunch program in Madison County goes from June 4 to July 27 at three locations.

Madison Middle School Cafeteria: June 4 – June 28 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursday. Porter Park North Side: June 4 – June 27 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mondays through Friday. Smith Park West Side: June 4 – June 27 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mondays through Friday.

Free meals will be provided for children ages 1 to 18. Adults may purchase meals for $3.50.

You must stay at the site to eat and may not take food away from the site. Parent’s also can’t eat their children’s food.

In Pocatello, the Lunch and Play program is put together by the Pocatello Chubbuck School District and Portneuf Health Trust.

The program goes until August 10th Monday through Friday 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Physical activities are offered at Alameda Park from noon to 1:00 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Lunch is served at Alameda, Bicentennial, Caldwell, Hawthorne, OK Ward, Raymond, Lower Ross Park and New Horizon Center.
