Rexburg Rapids to open soon
UPDATE: 6-15-18
REPAIRS NEARLY COMPLETE
Rexburg hopes to fully open Rexburg Rapids on June 25.
Crews are working to complete installation of tiles and other repairs to the zero depth entry pool.
“We are working on the tiles around the activity pool”, explains Meagan Scholes – Pool Manager. “The tiles from last season were broken and unsafe for the public to use. The tiles are here now and are being installed. We will open the rest of the pool as soon as the tile is installed, and the glue has cured.”
Rexburg Rapids will continue to give a discount to all those who want to com enjoy the slides and lazy river until the activity and zero depth entry pool are completed. Discounts will include: 25% off admission for those who will be purchasing at the door, two for one admission for those with a punch pass, and free fountain drinks for those who have a season pass.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Most of the Rexburg Rapids recreation area will open Saturday.
However, city officials said ongoing maintenance activity will delay opening of the activity and zero depth entry pool by one week. That includes the water playground area.
Work was underway through the winter to repair and upgrade the slide tower. Part of the restoration included replacing tiles around the pool. And, due to manufacturer shipping errors, the tiles arrived late. Assuming completion of that work, the full area should open June 16.
“This is the first time that we have really needed to replace and do major work on the pool,” says Maegan Scholes – Pool Manager. “We had to replace all of the tiles around the pool to ensure safety and proper operation of the pool.”
Rexburg Rapids will offer a discount to all those who use the slides and lazy river until the facilities are completed. The discount will be 25 percent off admission at the door, two-for-one admission to those with a punch pass, and free fountain drinks for those with a season pass.
The facility is located at 50 W. 2nd N. in Rexburg. You can learn more here.
