Pilots show off stunts at air show

It was a day full of loops, fly bys and even some somersaults for spectators at the Legacy Flight Museum Air Show in Rexburg. Many came out to watch the pilots show off.

Brianna and ashley crowther, air show spectators, “I like to watch them fly,” said Ashley Crowther.

“Me too, because they do these cool tricks,” said her sister Brianna.

“Yeah, last year I saw one go way up into the sky, stop, and fall down. Then, before hitting the ground it went,” Ashley said.

The show included many war planes from all different eras. Some of these planes brought back memories to veterans in the crowd who flew in similar ones while serving.

“This is why I’m here, because I’ve always had an interest in aircraft,” said Doug Gracey, a veteran watching the show. “They had my aircraft here, or one very similar to it. And so I became a docent here at the museum.”

The crowd cheered and waved on the pilots performing aerobatic stunts. Many in the crowd came because of their love of airplanes.

“Air shows are lots of fun because we get to come see the old airplanes especially up here in Rexburg,” said Julie Crowther. “And I’m kind of an airplane nut. I actually love airplanes and love watching them fly cuz it’s still amazing to me that, you know, such a metal beast can be up and flying in the air.”

“I always wanted to fly, never got a chance to,” said David Davis. “I’ve always enjoyed them. I’d really love to fly helicopters if I could, but someday, maybe.”

Even though the air show is over, you can still check out some of the planes at the Legacy Flight Museum in Rexburg.
