Monticello Montessori announces middle school approval

Monticello Montessori Public Charter School in Idaho Falls has won state approval to add a 7th and 8th-grade middle school next fall. School officials said the Idaho Public Charter School Commission approved the move Thursday.

The expansion effort started three years ago. The addition is planned for the 2018-2019 school year.

The middle school will follow the Montessori method which focuses on inspiring students with hands-on curriculum and creativity, focusing on project-based learning and integration of subjects.

“There were many details involved in this entire process, from physical space to budget and academic rigor, and we all worked persistently to make this possible,” said school administrator Erica Kemery.

The Bonneville County charter school is taking applications from students across Bonneville County and the surrounding area.
