Superman actor joins St. Anthony Police Department

The City of St. Anthony has a new big name in their police department.

Nearly two years ago, Eric Estrada was sworn in as a reserve officer for the city.

On Tuesday, one-time Superman actor Dean Cain was sworn in.
The reserve team of officers work with the All About Kids Foundation.

The foundation protects children from cyber predators and brings awareness of bullying and youth suicide.

The department also has received a police K9, drones, guns and police training classes.

After the ceremony, Cain signed autographs and took pictures with fans outside of city hall.

This is one way for Cain to help the kids.

“Anytime I can help kids, it’s a great step, and if it starts here small in St. Anthony so it can spread elsewhere, that’s a wonderful thing,” said Cain. “I am the kind of person who does more than just talk about something, I’ll go and get myself involved and do it. So I am here trying to help the kids.”

Cain says that parents can always get more involved in their kids’ lives.

“For parents, doesn’t matter how well you think you know your kids or how closely you think you are watching them, you’re missing something. You’re missing some things,” said Cain. “Have a support group around you. You can have your local officers looking out for them, it helps. Every other eye helps. Even if you are an incredibly involved parent, you can miss things. It happened to me.”After being sworn in officer, Cain spoke with the summer school class to motivate the kids there.
