Idaho State University appoints new AHEC head

Diana Campanella Schow has been named the new director of ISU’s AHEC (area health education center).

The new center will serve residents of 24 different counties and will focus on inter-professional educational opportunities.

Schow said that the mission of the AHEC is; “to recruit and retain health care professionals, in order to improve access to primary care, especially in rural and underserved communities.”

A scholar program will, when implemented, provide students with opportunities to focus on these targeted groups communities.

The center is one of only three in the state.
