EITC keys handed to College of Eastern Idaho
Idaho’s State Board of Education officially deeded 57 acres of land and buildings to the College of Eastern Idaho Board of Trustees. The board essentially turned over the keys of Eastern Idaho Technical College to the College of Eastern Idaho. Last year, Bonneville County voters overwhelmingly approved creation of a local taxing district to support CEI. It became Idaho’s fourth community college.
During its meetings in Idaho Falls Friday, the board approved several major projects at Idaho State University. The board authorized ISU to begin the construction phase of a new $4.1 million anatomy and physiology lab at the Meridian Health Science Center and approved a program allowing ISU to raise funds to replace seating at Holt Arena.
The University of Idaho was authorized to begin planning and design of a new $5.5 million seed potato facility to support research at the University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
In other business, the state board authorized a new Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree in advanced food technology at the College of Southern Idaho, expanded the Apply Idaho, free college application process, to Northwest Nazarene University and the College of Idaho, and authorized planning and design of a baseball field at Boise State University.
