Firefighters train for holiday incidents

The Idaho Falls Fire Department got some practice in today. They held what is called a prescribed fire. This is also for preventative measures for the upcoming holiday.

“Over the years, fireworks have shown to be a number one starter for grass fires and brush fires. What we’re trying to do for the snake river landing area is to prevent some of those brush fires that occur from either fireworks from the show or fireworks that local participants choose to engage in before the show even starts or after the show,” says Bill Arsenault, Idaho Falls Fire Department.

This training gives firefighters the chance to learn about new equipment and fire suppression techniques using real fire.
