1 dead, 1 seriously injured in head-on I-84 semi-truck crash

UPDATE: As of 4:35 p.m., Idaho State Police reports all lanes are open.

ORIGINAL:

One man was killed and one man was seriously injured in a head-on crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 187, near Eden at 10:41 a.m. Tuesday.

Idaho State Police reports David Wetmore, 57, of Irrigon, OR, was traveling westbound Interstate 84 in a commercial vehicle, and Corey McCaslin, 39, of Port Washington, OH, was traveling eastbound Interstate 84 in a 2015 Peterbilt commercial vehicle.

Wetmore crossed over the center line in the construction zone and struck McCaslin’s vehicle.

Air ambulance transported Wetmore in serious condition to Portneuf Medical Center.

McCaslin succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. ISP reports next of kin has been notified.

The westbound and eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 are still blocked.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
