Calf and cow moose killed over weekend in NW Wyoming

A calf and cow moose have been killed in separate vehicle collisions in northwest Wyoming.

Authorities say both incidents occurred this past weekend near the intersection of Wyoming 22 and Moose-Wilson Road in Teton County.

The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports the calf was killed in a collision with a vehicle at 10 p.m. Saturday, and the cow was struck by an SUV late Sunday night. None of the four people in the SUV were injured.

The area where the accidents occurred is year-round habitat for an array of wildlife, including mule deer, elk and moose. The section of road where both accidents occurred is notorious for wildlife-vehicle collisions.

In June, Teton County commissioners approved a wildlife-crossings plan to improve the safety of motorists as well as wildlife.
