One injured in crash north of Blackfoot

Idaho State Police are investigating a car crash that happened on U.S. 91 near milepost 104 north of Blackfoot around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Shantel Martinez, 22, of Firth, was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 north on U.S. 91 when she went across the center line and went across the southbound lane of travel.

Her car left the road, hit a mailbox and phone box, and continued to travel on the west shoulder for several hundred feet until her car hit a tree, then came to a rest in a canal.

She was not wearing her seat belt. Martinez, and a juvenile who was properly secured in a car seat, were both transported by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital in Blackfoot.
