Local boy welcomed back from hospital with new gift

You may remember this little boy. A few weeks ago we told you about Evan Jones winning a bike in the Bike to School Challenge and then giving it away to his friend Nick Ohngren. Six weeks later Nick is out of the hospital and back home.

Six weeks ago today the Ohngren family was getting ready for a birthday party when a normal day turned into a nightmare.

“He fell from this window up here. He was playing in it, making faces at his sisters and then he fell down, landed right around here and he still had his pajama shirt around his neck from when he was trying to get dressed and the window screen was over his body too,” says Holli Ohngren, Nick’s mom. “It was horrible because I knew that it was bad but it wasn’t until I was on the call with 9-1-1 and they asked me to come out and see if I could tell how he was doing and when I rounded the corner, his eyes were rolled in the back of his head and he was in the middle of a seizure. Seeing him like that is just an image that will never leave my mind ever, feeling so helpless.”

Today, he is back home with his new bike and superhero room. His family is glad to have him back.

“I’m so happy that he’s home from Utah because he was gone for six weeks and we were only there for three of those weeks,” says Nick’s sisters.
