Burn ban ordered in Power County

Because of adverse conditions that have created increased hazards, Power County Sheriff Jim Jeffries has declared a moratorium on burning.

The order covers all areas of Power County that are not within a Fire District.

The moratorium does not prohibit recreational camp fires or burning in a burn barrel that is in compliance with Power County ordinances.

The Sheriff’s Office said the ban would be lifted when weather or other related conditions no longer pose a high risk for wildland fires.
