Fire burns near buildings in Pocatello

A brush fire came close to several buildings in Pocatello this morning, but didn’t damage any.

The fire started when a tire broke off of a boat trailer that was traveling along Interstate 15 at around 11 a.m. It burned on the east side of the intersate south of the Clark Street interchange.

The fire burned near ON Semiconductor, Idaho State University’s Reaserch and Innovation in Science and Engineering complex and the Idaho State Veteran’s home.

No one was evacuated.

The fire burned approximately 15 acres.

Crews spent the rest of the afternoon mopping up.
