ISP investigates deadly crash in Bear Lake County

A Montpelier man was killed after being thrown from his car early Saturday morning in Bear Lake County.

Idaho State Police say it happened on U.S. Highway 89 near milepost 5, just north of the town of Fish Haven in Bear Lake County.

Russell J. Johnson, 41, of Montpelier, was driving north on U.S. 89 in a 1997 Toyota Corolla when he drove off the west side of the road. The vehicle hit an embankment and then rolled.

Johnson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

He died at the scene of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
