Snow King base plan goes to Town Council
Snow King Mountain Resort in Jackson has submitted its Base Area Master Plan Amendment for review by the Town of Jackson.
The proposal was revised based on stakeholder and community input.
Some of the key changes include shrinking the proposed east and west boundary expansion, proposing a Mountain Sports Training Complex, updating employee housing requirements, reducing zip-lines and supporting a second sheet of ice to base area.
“Listening to the community and stakeholders, our owners and board strived to make changes and adjustments to the Base Area Master Plan Amendment to reflect issues and needs that people said they cared about regarding Snow King,” says Snow King General Manager Ryan Stanley. “Snow King has worked diligently over the last several years to re-design and incorporate amenities that are important to our community and we have tried to do our best to listen to as many voices as possible through this process.”
According to the resort, stakeholders and the community had a wide range of comments ranging from more amenities to much less. Snow King worked to find a balance.
“Engaging the public and stakeholders provided us with an opportunity to hear from many user groups, community members, nonprofits and longtime valley residents as to what folks want to see on Snow King,” says Snow King Mountain Resort Board Member Jeff Golightly. “Snow King wants to be a mountain for all, with activities for every age range and ability. Our plans for the future center around creating a small-town ski area that can be sustainable and viable for generations to come.”
More public comment is still to come as the plan moves forward through the Town of Jackson and U.S. Forest Service.
